Registration Objectives and Rules

Objectives

This Youth Conference was created to achieve the following objectives:
  • To bring honor and glory to our Heavenly Father.
  • To encourage young people to study the Word of God.
  • To provide young people with the opportunity to speak with each other concerning God's Word and its application in their lives.
  • To build relationships between young people, young married couples, and older brethren and sisters.
  • To provide an atmosphere away from the world and its influences so that young people can spiritually benefit from all the spent time together.
This conference is designed for Bible students desiring and committed to learning more about God's Word. In order to maintain a spiritual focus around God's Word it is important that attendees are committed to the conference concept and all of the following guidelines and rules.

If you decide to attend the conference, you must agree to uphold the spirit and letter of these guidelines and rules. If you are not committed to any of the rules or guidelines described below, then please do not register for the conference. If the rules are not respected you may be asked to leave the conference and may be asked to refrain from coming to the conference in the future.

These guidelines and rules have been developed to:

  • Support the pursuit of Youth Conference Objectives.
  • To facilitate the gathering of a large number of people with different needs.

Fellowship:

  • Only Brethren that meet exclusively under the Birmingham Amended Statement of Faith (BASF) are allowed to pray, read, serve, lead, etc.

Clothing:

God created us for His glory (Gen. 1:26). The way we live our lives (including what we choose to wear) determines whether we are manifesting God or not. We live in a world that caters to the lust of the eyes everywhere we go, so conferences should be a haven from temptation and worldly influences. We have been called to come out and be separate from the world (2 Cor. 6:17). Sometimes we can lose sight of this lesson when we let the world influence our decisions on what we wear.

At YCC, our primary aim is to focus on God's Word and to encourage others in its study and application. Conference is designed to be a place where all can be uplifted and built up in our discipleship. The dress code has been carefully developed to help everyone get the most out of the week, and we appreciate your willing cooperation!

At All Times:

  • Please refrain from wearing clothing that allows for views of undergarments. Spaghetti straps or strapless tops are not permitted.

  • Males must wear shirts at all times except at the beach.

  • Tops that reveal cleavage or the midsection should not be worn at any time (including at the beach).

  • All shorts must extend to the mid-thigh or longer.

  • No shorts or pants with holes above the mid-thigh that expose underwear or skin.

  • Leggings should never be worn except under shorts or skirts of appropriate length.

  • All clothing must be free of worldly slogans or references to popular culture. (Our goal is to be separate from the world, not to be associated with it!)

Remember - our goal is to glorify God with our bodies - not the flesh!

"What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God." 1 Cor. 6:19-20

For Morning Classes and Workshops:

  • Men will wear pants and a collared shirt.

  • Women will wear skirts or dresses that reach at least to the knee when standing.

  • Sisters will wear head coverings.

  • No shorts or pajamas will be worn.

For Evening Classes:

  • No shorts are allowed.

There will be clothing on hand at YCC for attendees to borrow if the clothes you bring do not meet these guidelines.
